Annual Meeting update:

Our annual meeting will be convened at Hartford High School in Hartford, VT on Sunday August 13^th, 2017.  9am start.  Please arrive early to check in and pay dues for 2018.  Presenters will be contacted soon.

Financial Review:

The board again discussed the pros and cons of having a periodic Financial Review conducted on a regular basis.  We will look into this idea as the year progresses.

Fitness Test:

Discussion centered on our present Fitness Test and scoring procedures. Though all reports were positive, the Board also listened to ideas on a new test, more conducive to soccer officiating during games.  This may be reviewed this coming year with the formation of a small committee.  Discussion at annual meeting.  Dates and locations will be announced soon, emailed, and posted on website.

VSOA Approved Warm-Up Suits:

Again, positive feedback from members re new warm-ups.  They will be offered again this year before and during our meeting with orders, similar to last season, completed by 9/1/17.

NFHS Online Rules Test:

VSOA will request that VPA open the online test site from June 1^st, 2017 to August 31^st 2017.  Joe will track the test results obtained by members submitting test to him as soon as completed.  Members need to comply with deadline as stated in by-laws.

VSOA Board reminds members that per the by-laws, completion of the 2017 NFHS rules test and the physical fitness are required to officiate in 2017 and are NOT grievable.  Only missing the annual clinic is grievable.

VSOA Directory:

The VSOA Directory, with Bill Duval’s assistance, will reappear in its former self. Eric Evans will see that it is mailed to all who are entitled to it, and Joe will work to ensure that all contact info is current.  Please email me if phone/cell/work numbers and/or address has changed.

Rule Books:

Eric will oversee the mailing of Rule Books, to Active Members, upon their arrival at VPA.

Nominating Committee:

The Nominating Committee will identify candidates for Member at Large at the Annual Meeting in August.

VSOA Representatives at VPA Soccer Meetings:

Marty and Joe have and will represent VSOA at the VPA Soccer Meetings.

By-Laws Revision:

Discussion at annual meeting.

New Officials Clinic Dates:

Dates will be published/posted as soon as they are set.

Protocol this year will be $75.00 fee per new Official with $25.00 going to VSOA to cover the cost of the NFHS Insurance.  Assignors need to send contact info of the new Official to The Secretary/Treasurer ASAP.

Training Coordinator/s

Discussion of responsibilities of all involved – head and assistants – and stipends.  More information will be in place by the Annual Meeting.

Recruitment of New Officials:

On-going movement.  Some progress was made this spring.  A handful of new names have surfaced.

Miscellaneous:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Discussion centered on pink whistles, VSOA pink wristbands and sweatbands.
